While many people assume that the first day in December marks the first day of Advent, this is not generally the case as it can be as early as 27th November or as late as 3rd December. Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and this year that happens to be 1st December. For many of us this will be the first day for opening door number one on our Advent Calendars. These special small doors help us to count down the days to Christmas. At Doorsan we are particularly excited with the concept of twenty-four doors to open in preparation for Christmas.
Children love to open and close doors from a young age. For all of us at Doorsan we still feel this excitement each time we are introduced to a new style of door. When we get a new model in our Door Showroom we can't help ourselves, as we all like to have a go at opening and closing it.
When I was a child we had a simple Advent Calendar with seasonal pictures behind the door, such as a robin or a Christmas tree. We had one Advent Calendar to share between three children so each of us had to take it in turns to open a new door. It was always exciting to see what was behind the door. Nowadays the Advent Calendars are a bit more sophisticated with chocolates or other kinds of treats behind each door and most children seem to have their own to avoid the inevitable conflicts over who gets to eat the daily treat.
If you would like to see a new door design every day in the run up to Christmas then why not call into our showroom in West Yorkshire or look at our extensive range of doors on our door website. You'll find a range of wooden doors including modern and traditional designs.
