I am an avid viewer of property programmes on the TV, mainly due to my previous experience as an interior designer and interest in property development, but as our company supplies timber doors I am steeped in renovation schemes. A particular favourite TV show of my is Escape to the Country, it satisfies my nosey person instinct of looking at other peoples homes but this series takes you around the UK looking at our beautiful towns and villages in our lovely country. Mixed in with the investigation of properties are the interesting facts about our countries history and present country pursuits, which I also love.
While recently watching a particular episode of Escape to the Country I was particularly taken by some unique homes, the programme visited. All had properties had recently undergone re-furbished with newly fitted doors. It was interesting to recognise all the new country timber doors as the styles Doorsan supply, it would be nice to think that we had supplied them to these property owners.
It’s lovely to so see how the various styles of doors had been used in the properties visited and interesting to see the various treatments of stains or paints used on the doors. A particularly well appointed property, displayed one of our very popular Traditional, Glazed 8 Light Pre-Finished Oak door styles by using them as a series of door pairs opening from the entrance hall into a dining room and then into the kitchen and also into the lounge then into a conservatory. This scheme really opened up this cottage making it a large, airy and light interior. Another property had what appeared to be the Part glazed Ardeche Glazed unfinished Oak door along with the compatible solid panel Provence for rooms such as bedrooms and bathrooms requiring privacy. As these doors are unfinished it is possible to stain them in a choice of finishes to suit a personal preference. Finally another property originating from the Georgian period, had classic 6 panel solid doors painted white in the first floor areas yet stained darker for the reception rooms.
There are so many great door styles to choose from these days, to change old, ill fitting doors, can give a country property of any age a new lease of life.
