What a lovely sunny weekend we have just had and it looks like the good weather is set to continue for the weekend too.
We have been to a few barbecues over the last few weeks and we have managed to host a couple of our own burning oak wood chips instead of charcoal. We are hoping to have a few friends round next weekend if the weather holds out. I love to have friends and family round for the day but I always get concerned about the state of the garden and the state of the house. I always get into a fit of panic just before our guests arrive as I desperately try to clean up and sort out the garden. I have a few essentials that I need to get covered including the kitchen, living room and downstairs toilet, then my next set of priorities are in the garden - getting the grass cut and doing some weeding, if I get the chance. I have been known to go out and buy a bunch of bedding plants from my local DIY shop and plant them ready for visitors, knowing they will only last a short time in our garden.
One thing I am pleased about is my front door. We invested in a good quality timber door from Doorsan and it is a lovely elegant door. I do like to give the door a quick wipe down with a wet cloth when visitors are coming but I know that our door creates the right first impression to our home. Maybe I shouldn't care so much about what people think about our home, but I know I am not alone. Most of us like our homes to look their best when we have guests coming - or at least acceptable, which is as good as it gets for us these days.
