Today I thought I'd let you try your luck at a classic door puzzle.
There are two doors, one leads to heaven or riches or maybe saves your life and the other leads to hell or poverty or death. I'm sure you know the puzzle whichever version you've heard. I'll use life and death in my example.
Ok, two doors, one leads to life and the other death and you have one question that you can ask of one of the two doorkeepers. The problem is that one doorkeeper always tells a lie and the other always tells the truth and you don't know which keeper is which or which door is which.
So then, what's the question? Answer is on the next line so stop reading now if you want to have a think about it.
Answer "If I asked the other doorkeeper which door leads to life, what would he tell me?"
If you have asked the liar he will say that the other keeper will point you to the death door. If you have asked the
truthful doorkeeper he will say that the other would lie and hence also point you to the "death" door. Therefore whichever you have asked they both point to the death door and you know to pick the other one!
Once you know the answer it's still not that easy to get your head around and to be honest if my life really did depend on this then I think the pressure would play havoc with my logical reasoning.
I'd probably end up guessing and hoping but thankfully it is just a puzzle!
