What colour is your Front Door? Is it a colour you chose or have you inherited it? The really useful thing about a timber door is that you can paint it and change it when you feel the need. Doors made from other materials do not offer this flexibility. The colour we choose for our Front Doors can make a grand entrance statement about us and where we live. I love the style of the 10 Downing Street door, a 6 panel, Colonial style from the Georgian period which is black, shiny, important and rather austere with it's very important lions head knocker, brass letter flap and central brass knob. But imagine if it were Bright Pink, a glorious thought hey! what would the rest of the world think of us? It would be lovely to try it out for a short while, you never know what could happen.
I recently saw a conventionally styled solid timber door painted a dark shade of pink with a white over paint decorative pattern which ignored the panel details of the door, it looked great and illustrates that if you cannot get the exact door style you would prefer than there are other solutions to achieving a personalised effect. Doors in the Caribbean are often painted in bright, exciting colours, taking into consideration, of course, the fabulous lighting which does help to make this design statement more acceptable.

Look at the picture of this insignificant door/gate within the John Lennon Peace Wall in Prague, which we took while on holiday. This wall, however, is not an insignificant statement as it came into existence after the death of John Lennon and became a very important statement as it morphed into an impromptu protest space under Communism. This wall has now become part of the Prague Tourism Route. Whether you like your exterior or interior doors painted or varnished, to display the natural timber grain, remember they also offer a wealth of exciting decoration potential.
All timber doors need to have a treatment applied in order to make them last and prevent moisture from affecting their structure, why not use an exciting option to display your own personality through door decoration. Please contact our sales team for advise on finishing your new timber door or refer to the Finishing instructions on the website. Happy Painting.
